Testing
The R/C Baja Car drivetrain and steering test gave results of the max velocity, acceleration, steering angle, and if it can go up a ramp The requirements for this project are as following:
REQUIREMENTS:
-
The RC Baja Car must meet/exceed a final velocity of 10 mph
-
The RC Baja Car must climb a ramp that is 20 degrees without falling back down
-
The RC Baja Car must be able to withstand a tire hole for at least 15 seconds
APPROACH:
Data during this test will be collected by using a tape measure and stopwatch, to have a known distance and time of the Radio-Controlled Baja Car to pass through the distance. This data collecting method will be used for velocity.
Data for the steering angle test will use a protractor and metal rod in which will record the degree of turn per movement of the remote control.
Then for the ramp test, a wood board is placed at a 45-degree incline and the car started at the bottom and drove up the ramp.
SPEED TEST
The test looked at the top speed the car could go. This was measure by running the car between two mark pieces of tape (30 ft between) and measure the time it took. Then that gave the speed the car could go up to.

INCLINE TEST
The test looked at the requirement of being able to propel the car up a 20-degree incline. This will be done by driving the car up inclines varying angle from a piece of ply-wood and steps
10 Degrees Ramp
20 Degrees Ramp

DIFFERENTIAL TEST
The test looked at the differential of the car and holding the wheel one by one to see if the differentials functional while running.
